Confidence & Self-Esteem

When It’s Difficult to Trust Yourself
Low confidence or self-esteem doesn’t always mean feeling bad about yourself all of the time. You might appear confident to other people while privately questioning yourself, worrying about what others think, finding decisions difficult or feeling that you’re somehow not quite good enough.
Perhaps you put other people’s needs before your own, find it difficult to say no or need reassurance that you’ve made the right choice. Sometimes the way we see ourselves has developed over many years, and we may not even realise how much it influences our relationships, choices and expectations of ourselves.
How Counselling Might Help
Counselling offers an opportunity to explore where some of these beliefs about yourself may have come from and whether they still fit with the person you are today. We can become curious about your inner critic, the expectations you place upon yourself and the patterns that may make it difficult to recognise or express your own needs.
This isn’t about turning you into a more confident version of somebody else. It’s about understanding yourself with greater acceptance, recognising what matters to you and developing greater confidence in your own feelings, judgement and choices.
